Gifts That Keep on Giving

Tis the season for gift giving, and at the Institute of Podiatric Excellence and Development (IPED) we know that sincere gifts can have a lasting impact and benefit to your practice. So, don’t brush aside this important opportunity. Consider the impact a thoughtful gift can have on the following:

Colleagues—a gift to another doctor, particularly a primary care physician who has been a good source of referrals for your practice, can help continue a mutually beneficial relationship. The best gifts are those that can be shared by the entire office—food such as cookies, candy or fruit sculptures are all sound bets. Better still, have someone from your office hand deliver the gift. This allows for personal contact and an opportunity to leave brochures, podiatric information sheets and cards for future patients. A present to a new physician in town is a welcoming gesture and great introduction.

Patients—even a simple holiday card can be a reminder to patients that you care about them not just when they’re in the office. If you do any in-office dispensing of products or services, consider a discount coupon or free sample to encourage patients to try what you have to offer.

Office Staff—let’s face it, it’s your team that keeps your practice running efficiently and ensures that patients are happy and satisfied. The holidays are the perfect time to say “thank you” to your staff with a small gift. A lunch or other event has additional benefits if you can afford it. Getting your team members together outside the office setting helps foster good interpersonal relationships. A staff that cares about each other is more likely to go the extra mile and will also foster a more peaceful and productive office atmosphere.
